Hi, I'm Kait

... and I love dogs.  I grew up locally (Kipawa, and then Eldee) and like most dog lovers, I had a series of beloved family pets throughout my childhood. Post college, while working at my graphic design job in the GTA I decided that my home had room for four more paws and I adopted a dog from a rescue in Toronto. Like recognizes like, and they barely had to whisper the idea of fostering into my ear.

Over the course of about five years I took twenty-three homeless rescue dogs, and prepared them for new homes with families who loved them. I volunteered, I advocated, I helped drive 30 hours (one way) to the butt end of Texas to bring a van load of dogs to their new homes in Toronto (you can indeed become nose blind to just about anything). All of this to say that one day I realized I didn't want to sit at a desk all day, wishing I was at home, hanging out with my dogs. Realistically, most people probably feel like that. However, Stay-At-Home-Dog-Mom isn't exactly a viable option. So, enter Big Stretch Boarding & Daycare. My dogs weren't enough, I need yours too.

The goal behind Big Stretch is to provide your dog(s) with the kind of care I would want for my own fur-kids. I want safe, fun, and balanced pet care. I'm fully insured and certified in Pet First Aid & CPR through Wags 'N' Walks Pet First Aid and Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C through Red Cross. My dream is to spend everyday watching your dogs' tails wagging on the way in and again on the way out. Mostly, I want you to tell me how happy your dog is when they come back to you, and how tired and snuggly they are when they get home, and how you could relax knowing they were in the next best place next to being with you. Let me be your dog's home away from home.

The name Big Stretch comes from two places. First, the oft exclaimed "Ooohh, big stretch" when your dog does, well... a big stretch. Second, from a body language perspective this action is referred to as a "Greeting Stretch" and it's basically a way your dog says "Hey friend, I like you. Wanna hang out?" It's relaxed, it's friendly, and it means they're comfortable in their surrounding, and with you. It's high praise from your dog, and it's the reaction I want to see when I greet all my guests, and the reaction I want you to see when you come to bring them home.

Hope to see you and your dog real soon!
